Just so you know....

I will never agree to marry anyone unless they propose like this.

Oh, just realized you need a login to see the video.

Don't get too excited. That password doesn't work for anything besides imdb.com, so don't even think about trying to hack my email. Jerks.

Sharing is caring.

My mom just walked through the living room carrying two water bottles filled with pee. Pretty gross. If you're at my parents' house any time in the next day or so, be careful what you get out of the fridge. That's not apple juice.

Hopefully, two weeks from now, Mom's gonna be giving Cason her kidney. Just one urine test left to see if she's going to be able to. So...keep your fingers crossed for creatinine levels of 1.0 or lower.

In other news, I started reading Atlas Shrugged again. Hopefully I'll actually manage to finish it this time. I think I've started this book about 5 times and I always quit reading for one reason or another and then forget what I've read and have to start over. That's not going to happen this time. No sir. I've got my eyes on the prize.

It's Christmas-time and I feel the need to blog.

The problem is, I have nothing to say. Nothing at all.

One thing: never google "cheese grits". It tastes a lot better than it looks. That's all.

I leave you with this video....Still funny after all these years:

What the ef?! :)

Love.

So there's a good chance that I'm in love with that guy from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". This is what sealed the deal for me, I think:

Fantastic.

Something good.

My friend Stephen just posted this on facebook and I thought I'd share it with you all. One of the donors in the video works with Stephen at Red Cross Blood Services. Check it out:

People are amazing. They make me happy.

And just to get on a soapbox for a second...As of April 2008, nearly 100,000 people were on the U.S. organ donor waiting list. A lot of these people won't live to receive the organ that they need in order to get a second chance at life. Signing up to be an organ donor is one of the most generous decisions that you can make, and it's so easy to do! If you're not already, please please please consider becoming an organ donor. You can help save a life!

A weekend of fun

Fall is here! I really couldn't be happier about that. It's my favorite season by far.

This weekend I have had the most perfect fall weekend that I can imagine. Yesterday, I got to spend the day with some of my favorite people in the world (and some new friends who are also quite nice!). We went to the Scottish Highland Festival at Stone Mountain. We ate turkey legs, we watched big burly men in skirts throw heavy objects....it was great. Then we had a picnic in the field in front of the mountain.

Later, we went to Metal Karaoke at the 10High. Fun times, although that place was WAY too crowded for my liking. One of my new friends, Luisa, managed to get on stage to sing! She did a fantastic job, especially for a first-timer. Very impressed. I didn't get a video of her, but I did get a video of this guy:

Today, I watched (from the Publix parking lot) a little bit of the air show that they're having at Dobbins AFB. It was pretty sweet. Thank God Ashley and Glenn told me that's what was going on. I woke up yesterday to the sound of REALLY loud planes flying over my apartment. I was getting worried that Russia was invading Georgia again. haha.

Side note: If you think about it this week, pray for little Cason. He's got mono. He's not feeling that terrible, but he can't have his kidney transplant until the mono is gone, so....yeah.

A dream come true

After dreaming about them for the past day and a half, I've finally done it....I bought a bag of Hint of Lime Tostitos.

Delicious.

Journey of Hope

The Journey of Hope is a cross-country bike ride that starts on the west coast and ends in Washington, D.C. The event raises funds and awareness for people with disabilities.

My roomie, Caruthers, is participating this year and he could use your help meeting his fundraising goal. Check out his profile and at least read what he has to say. It's a great event and the money they raise will help out a lot of really amazing people.

All sorts of stuff

I've been thinking about something lately. Something fun. Something adventurous. Something road-trippy.

I want to go on a road trip. I don't know where yet. I don't know who yet. I don't know how yet. I just know I want to do it. Maybe I'll go on my own. Since it'll most likely have to happen during the summer, it might have to be on my own since everyone else has real jobs where they don't get the entire summer off.

Maybe I'll go to Oregon. I've never been there. I hear it's nice.

Maybe Canada. I've been there, but it's been a long time. They have socialized health care. I don't know much about that, but I hear it's really hard to get urgent or specialized care...so that sucks. There's a health care soapbox that I feel like I should be climbing up on right now, but I won't. Too lazy (and too uninformed).

Who knows what I'll do. Maybe I won't do anything. I'm officially taking suggestions. I'm also officially wondering what is wrong with the Green Party....I'm really not that political when it comes right down to it...but really...election season is scaring me a little.

This video doesn't have anything to do with anything, but thank you "It's Always Sunny" for reminding me of it... :)

My Life: The Soundtrack (I'm doing this again bc I have an iPod now)

I got this chain mail type thing on myspace:

So, here's how it works:
Open your music player (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, etc).
Put it on shuffle.
Press play.
For every question type the song that's on.
When you go to a new question press the next button.
Ready? GO!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Opening Credits:
"Dies irae": The Vienna Boys' Choir

Waking Up:
"Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid)": Sufjan Stevens

Falling in Love:
"All the Way": Frank Sinatra/Celine Dion

Fight scene:
"Monkeys and the Alligator": Dr. Jean (What? I have some kid music on my iPod. Ironically, this song is about an alligator who eats monkeys bc they're teasing him...making it somewhat appropriate as a "fight song")

Breaking up:
"One Way Out": The Allman Brothers Band

Getting back together:
"Danse Mon Esmeralda": Garou (Notre Dame de Paris, the musical)

Secret Love:
"I Don't Want to Die (in the hospital)": Conor Oberst

Life's okay:
"Superstar": Sonic Youth

Mental breakdown:
"A Whole New World": Aladdin soundtrack

Driving:
"A song for you": The Carpenters

Flashback:
"Silent Night": Sufjan Stevens (shuffle sucks. I don't want the same artist twice on my soundtrack!)

Partying:
"Paranoid Android": Radiohead

Happy dance:
"Can't Let Her Get Away": Michael Jackson

Regretting:
"She": Green Day

Long night alone:
"Pancakes for one": Of Montreal (That's a good one! Good job shuffle!)

Death scene:
"Pas si Simple": Yann Tiersen (Amelie soundtrack)

Ending credits:
"City Love": John Mayer

I don't feel like this soundtrack worked out as well as the last one....Oh well.

It's a beautiful day for a neighbor

It just occurred to me that I have officially made it an entire year without a major confrontation with my neighbors. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, see the posts from August 7 and 9, 2005. Very interesting stuff, if I do say so. And I do.)

Sunday, July 02, 2006

I'm good enough; I'm smart enough; and doggonit, people like me.

I'm going running this morning for the first time in.....a very long time. In fact, all this talk I've been hearing from Marty lately has got me motivated...and I've decided that I'm in training for next year's Peachtree Road Race. Yes, that's right. By this time next year, I will be able to run 6.2 miles. Wish me luck! Or not. Whichever.

Summer school

I hate to be a negative Nancy about this...but the next four weeks of life are really gonna suck. Seriously. I'm feeling all down in the dumps just thinking about it.

I need a hug. Maybe two.
